Feminised cannabis seeds represent one of the most important innovations in the cannabis seed market. Previously most seeds on the market were regular and producing female and male plants. The emergence of these seeds has eventually made it possible to cultivate 100% female plants and harvest only flowers for consumption.
Although this innovation started in the 70's, it was not until the Dutch Passion seed bank released the first feminised seeds on the market in 1998. Not surprisingly, these seeds quickly conquered growers indoor and outdoor gardens all over the world. At the same time several other seed banks offered in their catalogues feminised versions of their genetics.
There are different methods to produce feminised seeds. The main technique is to reproduce two female plants. This involves reversing the sex of one of the female plants by forcing it to produce male flowers so that it fertilises with pollen the flowers of the other female plant.
An optimally produced feminised cannabis seed is stable and produces only plants with female flowers. Feminised plants are perfect for beginners who want no complications in growing their first plants and only need to take care of them.
