Growing Fruity Jack marijuana

In this post, Philosopher Seeds' team presents a growing report of one of our most demanded strains, Fruity Jack from our line Golo Line. To create this hybryd, Philosopher Seeds joined forces with Reggae Seeds, widely known for their Juanita la Lagrimosa strain, a crosiing between the New York City Diesel from Soma and Reina Madre from Mario Bellandi's Delicatessen Seeds, a renowned activist and prestigious cannabis breeder. The result of this crossing was surprising;  the resuting strain had a 1:1 THC:CBD ratio, reaching 9% CBD levels in the best specimens. Since then, a lot of seedbanks and seed producers have greatly benefited from the work and efforts of this humble and commited cannabis seedbank.

Fruity Jack, compac and highly resinous

Thanks to this research, diverse breeding lines have been developed with very interesting results, crossing much of Reggae Seeds' genepool with a few selected males like Jack the Ripper from TGA Subcool, known for its powerful psychedelic effect and its very high THCV content, which usually reaches 5.5% levels. On of these breeding lines was Fruity Jack, a hybrid from a very particular selection of Respect #13 from Reggae Seeds - as female - and Jack the Ripper from TGS Subcool - as male. Once we observed the results, our team did not hesitate to add this strain to our marijuana seed collection.

Germination of Fruity Jack

25 seeds were germinated between wet paper napkins, with a heat mat to provide warmth and in complete darkness. All of them sprouted during the first 48 hours; thanks to the conservation process of our seeds, we mantain  the germinating power of all our marijuana strains.

Fruity Jack, 100% germination ratio

Since any seed was lost during the germination process, we can say that we obtained a 100% germination ratio in this test. After 48 hours all seeds were ready to transplant and start growing. We used small containers in which our seeds grew for the next 10 days, with a 18 hours light / 6 hours darkness photoperiod.

Fruity Jack growing phase

Our partner Dani Macro has made a great work with this growing report of Jack el Frutero. Philosopher Seeds really appreciates his efforts and dedication towards this project. Here you have a complete list of everything you need to perform a crop with the same production, aroma and taste qualities.

Fruity Jack in Dani Macro's growing tent

The growing phase took 4 weeks, during which our plants reached aproximately 40 cms in height. We then realised that the fourth week was not needed when using growing tents, so we recommend starting the flowering phase after 3 weeks of growth. To solve this problem and allow our plants to fully develop during the blooming stage, we mounted another growing tent of the same dimensions so we could properly allocate our 25 Jack el Frutero plants.

Once the plants were allocated in both growing tents, we started the flowering phase. For this test we used Biocanna fertilizers - 100% organic - which offered excellent results and a very special taste. If you want to check the feeding chart used for this growing report, visit our Philosopher Seeds Grower's Handbook and ask for Jack el Frutero's workbook, which will guide throughout the culture.

Growing parameters under complete control

Fruity Jack grows vigorously and will quickly fill up all available growing spots with aromatic, resinous and beautiful flowers, thanks to the sativa heritage from  its parentals. It is recommendable to use stakes so the plant's branches can support the weight of its buds. This growing report was possible thanks to Dani Macro's installations and efforts, which allowed us to enjoy specimens with great organoleptic properties.

Fruity Jack starting the 6th week of flowering

From the 6th week of flowering the buds will start to gain weight and produce lots of thricomes. Nitrogen levels have always been low since it is an organic culture, so we can see the firts symptoms of how plants begin to lose their dark green colour - typical of a nutrient solution rich in nitrogen, which can seriously undermine the final quality and potency of the obtained flowers.

The calyx-leaf ratio of Fruity Jack is very high

Although it is a mostly sativa cannabis strain, it will be harvested after 65 days of flowering. We could say then that it actually is a fast sativa strain, which needs a relatively short growing period. It is really easy to grow, and offers very particular aroma and taste qualities. We invite everyone of you to enjoy this cannabis beauty, now available in Philosopher Seeds' Golo Line .

Fruity Jack smoking report

We present here Fruity Jack's smoking report, made by Dani Macro from his samples, in which several features of this strain - like its bag appeal, smell, taste, potency,... -  will be scored. We must keep in mind that the effects of marijuana depend of many variables such as cannabinoid ratios, user tolerance and organism, etc. so the data provided is merely orientative.
